Last year we headed to the drive in for the 4th. It was absolutely perfect so we tried it again this year! It is safe to say it's our yearly tradition! The weather was gorgeous, we spent much needed time with friends and the movie was cute. We worked around the house the entire day Friday, our home is definitely neglected due to our crazy baseball schedule and working. We got the house looking spiffy and then the evening was left to enjoy. We picked up Jake's friend Dom (who had just went home at 12noon the very same day from spending the night with us on the 3rd) and met up with the Scherzingers and Wonglers at the drive in. The kids played wiffle ball and then the adults joined in and played kicked ball. We had fried chicken and rolls, chips and tons of goodies. We watched How to Train Your Dragon 2- it was cute, liked the first one better. The neighborhood next to the drive in let off fireworks---we had the best of both worlds. The fireworks lit up the movie screen, I felt like I was back in time to the good ol'e days. No cares in the world. Freedom and peace is nice but it should never be taken for granted (I know I do at times). I am thankful to live in America, thankful for the men and women along the years who have made this country great. Ultimately, I am thankful for the true peace maker...Jesus. Without Him, freedom and peace would not be possible!
