Misc. Fall Fun

On Friday, Jacob's Kindergarten class had a Halloween parade and they were able to wear their costumes to school. The teachers took them around the other classes to "show off" their costumes. Jake woke up at 6:45 begging me to not wear his costume. He had been counting down the days all week for this and Halloween. I'm not sure what he was worried about, I didn't have time to question him because our mornings are crazy! I convinced him to wear it and then he was fine-whew!

The pumpkin flower pots were made by the kids during Wednesday night class at church. I found the idea in a magazine and the other teachers loved it. We love fall around our house, I think pretty much every family in America does!

Jake's Last Game

Soccer is over until next Fall. I think the entire family is going to miss seeing Jake play. He had so much fun and we are so glad we had him play. He did so well for his first year and is looking forward to playing again. Today the team received their trophies and of course, Jake was thrilled for that part. He had a wonderful coach and learned so much this year. Goodbye to soccer, hello basketball!!!! It's going to be a fun year for basketball for both the boys. We'll be juggling three different leagues this year and Brad is going to help coach Jake's team, but we wouldn't have it any other way!

Bro. Benson from Kenya

Our missionary from Kenya, Bro. Benson came to visit us on Sunday! This was the first time for our family to meet him and we were all excited. He and his wife are directors of an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. Our church supports this wonderful ministry and my family and I are happy to be apart of it. He is an amazing man and God is using him in a mighty way. It was such an honor to meet him and hear him preach. Listening to him describe the way they get their basic needs for survival is hard to grasp. We are such spoiled brats here in the US. I hope my children took something life changing from the experience. We had such an awesome service!

Fall Fun

My boys love to rake the leaves into a pile and jump into them. Whether they are diving in, doing tricks while jumping into the leaves or playing football and landing in the leaves for a touchdown, they have a blast! We have enough leaves in our yard for the entire neighborhood to enjoy. It's a pretty big job to blow them into the street for the city to come and pick them up. My boys get their joy of jumping honestly. As a kid, I remember loving it too. We would rake leaves and jump into them or bury ourselves in them. I think most kids enjoy it, it's what makes fall, fall! It's one of the many reasons I LOVE this season!

Fall Break - Hoosier Hysteria

Fall Break for the kids started on Friday, October 15. Brad took a four day weekend to spend some time with the kids while they were off and to work on the land/house that my parents just bought. We got up early Friday morning and headed out to the land/house to work until early afternoon. Then around 2:00, we headed to Bloomington for Hoosier Hysteria. The kids had no idea where we were going, it was a complete surprise. I love surprising my kids and very rarely get the chance to do so. Brad and I had on Indiana gear but thought the kids would figure it out if they were wearing it too. I packed their IU sweatshirts and my camera and hid them in the back of the van. We were about 5-10 minutes outside of Bloomington when the kids started to ask questions. The first was, "Are we going to Bloomington"? Then the next was, "Are we going to an IU game"? We kept saying you're getting closer and closer and then Jordan guessed. Jacob had never been before, so it was a new experience for him. He watches the Hoosiers play on t.v. and knows they are in Bloomington but he's never been to Hoosier Hysteria before. We ate at Wendy's and then headed to Assembly Hall. We stood in line for an hour to get autographs then the pep rally started. It was so fun, Jordan is so into basketball. Jacob was so tired, I think he could have cared less to be there but did perk up once they played a short game. Once it was over, we headed down to the court and Jordan met all the players and got everyone's autograph. It was so much fun and I am so glad the surprise played out!!!
