7U Boonville Vipers- Ferdinand Tourney - 3rd Place

Wow-Jake is one busy little guy!  He is loving it though!  Saturday, 6/23 he played in his very first 7U tourney in Ferdinand, IN.  Ferdinand is an hour ahead of us, so it was an early morning for us!  We headed out around 6:30 and arrived around 7:10.  The boys began warming up around 7:30 and played their game at 8:30.  They one their first game, against Ireland.  We had an hour or so break and the then the boys played again.  This time, the boys fell short to Forest Park.  One more loss and we were heading home.  The boys hung out under a shade tree, watching movies, eating and just being boys.  We played the next game around 2:30 and came up short!  We lost by 3 points (11-8) against Ireland-ugg we beat them the first round!  The boys were bummed but they gave it their all!  We were one game away from playing in the championship game-3rd place isn't bad for their first tourney!  We play again with the 7U Vipers the week of July 4.  Travel ball is so much fun, Jake is making some awesome memories!

6U Boonville Gold- Golfmoor Tourney- 3rd Place

Jacob played with Boonville Gold on 6/18 and 6/19 for "pool" play.  Pool play sets up the brackets for tournament play.  Boonville Gold came into the tourney 3-0!  Jacob didn't get to play on Saturday 6/23 but the Gold beat Boonville Black and advanced to Sunday.  Jacob played Sunday 6/24 and the Gold came in 3rd.  They got beat by the Newburgh Gold Gloves which they beat in pool play earlier in the week.  Jake was disappointed they didn't get a trophy but the medal was nice!  He is having a blast playing with both teams!

Jacob ~ Golfmoor Website

Last but not least in the 6u division, Robby Frank's highly favorite Highland team beat Mccutchanville 18-7.  Joshua Ferguson helped pace his team by turning a double play in the second inning.  Look out for this Highland team folks, they got some great players but their coaches are equalizers. In the other games, East was upended by Boonville Gold 17 -16 in the most thrilling game of the night in the 6u division.  Boonville Gold's Jacob Fuller tied a world record by making all 3 outs while playing first base.  Great job Jacob!!!  On the PeeWee diamond Golfmoor beat Boonville Black 15-2 and the Newburgh Gold Gloves proved their team name worthy by shutting out the Mccutchanville Blue Lightning 10-0.  GoldGloves look good so the other 6u teams better look out!!!

Well it was a great first night of baseball.  I look forward to seeing more action tonite....

Jacob- 6U Boonville Gold/All Stars

Jacob is playing for two travel teams this season.  He tried out for the 7U Vipers but was asked to help out the 6U Gold when he was available.  This past week, (Mon. 6/18, Tues. 6/19) he played three games with the 6U Gold.  They won all three games!!!  Jacob played great, batted good and had tons of outs.  He was mentioned on the baseball website!!!  He loves baseball, eats..sleeps...and breaths it!!!!  I loved this poem a friend found:
He pulls on a helmet,
picks up the bat,
and walks to the plate,
gotta hit and that's that.

The crowd starts to yell,
the game's on the line,
last inning, two outs,
the score's nine to nine.

Dad yells, "Go get it,"
Mom wrings her hands,
coach hollers, "hit it,"
but alone there he stands.

Heroes are made
in seconds such as this,
but he's just a little boy,
what if he should miss?

Years after this game's ended
and he's little no more,
will he remember the outcome
or even the score?

No he'll have forgotten
if he was out, hit, or a run,
he'll only look back on
his friends and the fun.

So cheer this boy on,
alone with his fate;
help him remember with fondness
this stand at the plate.

Spend your time wisely
and help in his quest
to be a hitter
with confidence
and always his best.

And when the game's over,
this boy can stand tall,
for you've helped him prepare
to give it his all!

Father's Day

Father's Day weekend was wonderful.  On Saturday evening, we headed out to my parents to visit with my dad.  We grilled and relaxed all evening.  The boys played a little basketball, corn hole and rode the 4 wheeler.  Sunday morning, the boys gave Brad the candy basket and home made cards they worked on Saturday evening.  They also answered a list of questions about their dad and drew a picture of their daddy.  Brad loved them!!!  We headed to church and then to Los Bravos for lunch.  At 6, Jake had baseball practice and then we met up with friends at the Drive-In to see Madagascar 3.  It was a beautiful evening and a wonderful ending to a wonderful day!  I'm very blessed to have Brad, he is an amazing husband and dad!!!
