Family Night

Last night Jacob and I went to my grandparents house to spend time with family.  Our cousins were in from Northern Indiana, so it was a chance for us all to catch up.  We had a great night of spending time together.  I love the relationship that my kids and nephew have with their Great-Grandparents.  It is breath taking to watch them interact.  I am thankful that God has allowed these wonderful relationships to flourish and exist.

Boonville Black Sox - 7U - Shelbyville, KY Tourney

Friday morning we headed to Louisville KY for Jake's last baseball tourney of the season.  He has played with 3 teams this Summer- we are on baseball overload!  We met up with some of the Black Sox at Joe's Crab Shack for lunch.  On our way to Louisville, we had a blow out on the interstate!  It was frightening changing a tire while cars are flying by you going 80mph!  God's hand of protection was definitely on us during that time!  Once we changed the tire, we met up with everyone and had a delicious lunch!  We then headed to the hotel for the kids to swim and Brad headed to WalMart to have a new tire put on.  Other families began arriving later that evening and then we headed to supper with everyone.

Saturday, the kids played at 9:00 and 10:30 our time.  Their record for pool play was 1-1.  The game they lost was 12-11 and the game they won was 13-0!  After the games, we headed to lunch and then back to the hotel for more swimming!  Later that afternoon, the team headed to the Louisville Slugger Museum-the kids had a wonderful time!  We were going to have dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe but it was about a 2 hour wait for a party of 40!  We headed back towards our hotel and had dinner at Cattlemans Steakhouse!  It was delicious!  After dinner, the team went swimming again before bed!

Sunday, the kids had another early game-9:00 our time.  We lost 9-1- the kids were disappointed!  They played good but they just didn't have enough in them to compete against the KY teams!  We headed home but made a pit stop in Corydon for Jake- he wanted KFC and we definitely felt like he deserved it!  We arrived home at 1:30 and had the entire day/evening to rest and spend time together and get school stuff organized for the next day!  We had a great mini vacation!

Summer Vacation, StayCation Style 2013

Brad and I were on vacation last week and it was definitely much needed!  We started off vacation with the Mt. Vernon tourney.  On Monday, we worked around the house so we could play the rest of the week.  We got many things accomplished-praise God!  We sat around the fire pit and roasted hot dogs and made smores after working all day-it was a nice, relaxing evening!  Tuesday, the boys didn't want to swim or watch a movie- they wanted to play baseball.  Brad took them to the fields to practice and spend time together.  Wednesday, we did some back to school shopping, took the kids to Gigi's for some yummy cupcakes then to lunch at Archie and Clydes.  The boys got Back-to-School haircuts after lunch and then we went home to rest and the boys headed to church.  Thursday was laid back too- we packed for our trip, the boys gave Toby a bath and we spent time together around the house.  Friday we headed to Louisville for Jacob's last baseball tourney of the season.  It was a great Staycation- relaxing and productive!

Warrick County Rookies - 7U & 8U - Mt. Vernon Tourney

August 3-4, Jacob played on a new team called the Warrick County Rookies.  It is a team comprised of Newburgh and Boonville 7 and 8 year olds.  They had 1 practice together before they played the tournament and they ended up sweeping the 7U and 8U brackets and earned 1st place in both age divisions!  It was a great weekend of baseball, 5 games on Saturday and 1 game on Sunday!  Jacob was worn out but excited the team did so well.  We have decided to stick with the Rookies next year.  Jacob will begin practice with them in January and they will play until August.  He will strictly play with the Rookies, no AllStar team or recreation ball.  We are excited for what the future holds for Jacob and the Rookies!
