Family & Friends

The kids were busy this past weekend.  Brad and I planned a date night Friday night, we asked my parents to keep the the kids.  They agreed, we actually got two date nights because my parents wanted the kids an extra night!  We had a nice, relaxing weekend- it was much needed!  Sunday morning, Jordan's youth group participated in a pancake breakfast fundraiser.  They made blueberry, choco chip, bacon and plain pancakes.  It was a nice breakfast, so proud of him!  Sunday night, Jacob stayed with his buddies Eli & Gavin and Jordan stayed with his cousin.  Brad and I had another free evening, which we spent at church.  Monday morning, I met my sister, nephew and Jordan at my grandparents house for breakfast.  I spent the day visiting with them and my cousin that was in from Anderson Univ.  We headed home at 2:00 and Jacob came home around 3:30.  We enjoyed a relaxing evening as a family- I love nights when we can just "chill out" at home!  The busyness starts back up tonight with baseball practices for Jacob, road trip with grandparents, hanging out with great-grandparents, baseball tourneys and then VACATION for us all next week!!!  Summer is slowly coming to an end but we are soaking up every last second possible!

Otter's Game - Boonville Black Sox

Wednesday night we enjoyed an Evansville Otters game with the Boonville Black Sox.  My kids were camera shy all night!  One of the moms from the team tried and tried to take their pic, I finally bribed them to take a photo!  Yeah- I know I went down Bribery Road but I was weak!  The weather was beautiful, I think everyone had a great time!

Louisville Slugger Museum

We allowed the boys to invite a friend over Sunday night to spend the night since Summer is quickly ending!  Jordan had his friend Skyler over and we had planned on swimming Monday but it rained us out.  The boys played basketball and XBOX all morning and then we headed out for lunch and a movie.  Jacob invited his friend Dom to stay over but Dom wanted Jacob to stay with him since he's already stayed with us this summer.  Jake went over Sunday late afternoon and they played baseball, basketball and visited Dom's grandparents. On Monday, it was a guys road trip to the Louisville Slugger Museum in KY.  Jake, Dom, Dr. Sharp (Dom's dad) and Joe (Dom's grandpa) went and they had a blast.  Jake was so excited that he was allowed to hold Robinson Cano's bat during the tour.  Once they got home Monday afternoon, Jake stayed a little longer and the boys played more baseball.  So thankful for the memories my kids are making with their friends.

Boonville Black Sox - 7U -Highland Tourney

The boys did so good in Pool Play during the week of July 15-18.  They went into the tourney Saturday, 3-0!  Our second game during Pool Play was against East and we came from behind and beat them by 1 point.  We were set to play them again on Saturday, so we knew it was going to be a tough game.  The boys struggled up until the 4th inning and came within 2 points.  They fell apart again and lost the game 20-11.  It was a tough loss for the boys, they were heartbroken that they didn't go further in the tournament.  We were done with baseball by 3:30, we then headed home where we relaxed all evening!

Jacob is scheduled to play for a travel team comprised of Newburgh, Boonville and Golfmoor players until the end of August.  He has a tournament in Shelbyville, KY with the Black Sox and he will be finished with them for the year.  Football starts in a month for Jake and Jordan will play at EBA in early August.  There is never a dull moment in our home when it comes to sports!

Boonville Black Sox - 7U - Highland Highlights

Monday - July 15th *** UPDATES ***
The 7U tournament action started off tonight. It was Boonville coming from a 6-1 defeict to pull out a 16-10 victory. Conner Anglin hit a bomb for Boonville, not to be outdone Brantly for Golfmoor hit not one but TWO Shots!!! In the second game, McCuthanville started off fast and didn't slow down as they hit their way to 14-1 win against Mt. Vernon. In the Nightcap - East Downed an improving West Side Brawlers team 11-7. Ethan Goodin, hit an absolute blast into the parking lot for the Brawlers. For up to the minute final scores please follow @HBC_AllStars on twitter.

Wednesday - July 17th *** UPDATES ***
It was another great night of action on the Highland Lower Field. Henderson started off the night doubling up West Side 20-10. In the 2nd game, Newburgh stymied Highland with some nice defense 11-4. SS Fischer had a very nice game flashing the glove. In the night cap, East Aces jumped all over Boonville 9-0 and it looked as this might be a shortened game. Somebody forgot to tell the kids from Warrick County that. There was no quitting in them. They pulled off a remarkable come back scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th and won 12 - 11 and also moved to 2 - 0 in pool play. Games will kick back in action tomorrow at 5:30.

Thursday - July 18th *** UPDATES ***
We may have had our best game of tournament tonight for the 7U division. An extra inning barn burner. Golfmoor battled from behind the entire game and played some great ball the last 3 innings. They scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th to take a 12-10 lead, but the Battle Stixx didn't fold to that pressure by scoring 2 themselves to send it to extra innings. Golfmoor failed to score and McCuthanville plated the winning run in the bottom of the 7th to pull out a 13-12 win. Mitchell hit a 3-run creature in the 1st for McCuthanville. They wrapped up pool play with a 3-0 record. In the 2nd game, Boonville also ended with a perfect 3-0 record in pool play beating Mt. Vernon 16-1. The nightcap had a solid Henderson team scoring runs as they advanced to 2-0 in Pool Play with a 19-4 victory over East Lighting.

Boonville Vipers - 8U - McCutchanville Tourney

Our last tourney was this past week/weekend with the Vipers.  It was a great season and the boys improved so much from the beginning of the season.  Jacob is playing with the 7U team now, so it's still baseball season in our house and we LOVE it!

Our Saturday

Saturday was a beautiful day in Southern Indiana!  Jacob had a baseball game at 10 a.m., so we headed to McCutchanville at 8:30.  The Vipers won against Mt. Vernon and they advanced to play Sunday at 10:00 a.m.  After Jake's game, we headed to Applebee's for lunch and then we did a little shopping.  Once we were home, we rested for an hour and then the guys headed to the ball fields to enjoy the weather and get a little practice in.  After an hour of practicing, I surprised the guys with mini McFlurries from McDonald's.  We stayed at the ball fields for two more hours because the weather was too pretty to be inside.  It rained a couple times while the guys were playing but it didn't stop them.  I spotted lightening, so we packed up and went home for supper.  It was such a relaxing, beautiful day.  I love spending quality time with my family!

Jacob's Biggest Fan

This young man is Jacob's biggest fan.  He is such a great older brother!  He coaches, instructs and cheers his younger brother on with everything in him.  Jacob adores Jordan and listens to almost every word he says!  Jordan never complains about following him around to all his ball tourneys.  He is selfless and that shows maturity.  Jordan is growing into a sweet, young man that loves his family.  He has a tender heart and is learning more and more every day how the world works.  He has experienced how mean people are, how disloyal people are and what it feels like to not fit in.  He takes it all in and I pray he's taking notes on what kind of person NOT  to be!  I pray God continues to grow him, mature him and pour His love into him.  He has so much to offer this world and I pray he makes a difference along his journey!  I will be there every step of the way being HIS biggest fan!

They are not the best pictures but I always have my phone on me so that's what I use the most!  Brad was off all last week ( I only had to work 2 days last week) so we had tons of family time around the house.   We spent July 4, busy - busy- busy!  Friday, Brad worked on the lawn all morning.  Jacob took him lunch and they had a heart-to-heart talk- I can only imagine what was said!  I love the way my boys adore their dad!

On Saturday, we had to leave at 7 a.m. for Pine Ridge.  We had a great day of baseball.  After Jake's tourney, we snuggled up on the couch and chilled.  The windows were open, the boys played their IPODS and we watched t.v.- it was nice!

Sunday, Brad had to preach (he got the call at 9a.m.) because our pastor was sick.  After church, we had lunch at Los Bravos and then came home and rested.  Jacob tried all afternoon to blow up the balloon he got from Children's Church.  He finally succeeded, I love his determination!  We went back to church Sunday evening and Jordan went to Youth small group.  He is so excited about the changes that Pastor Shawn is making within the youth group.  I believe 100% that Brad stepping down from youth ministry will help Jordan tremendously!

Monday was my last day off of the 5 days and the boys and I spent the day again, around the house.  I got laundry caught up and Jordan worked on his basketball drills and recruited Jake to help.  They spent time playing fetch with Toby and then came in and we watched Wreck It Ralph.  It was a cute movie!  Brad came home from work and we grilled out and then took the boys to Bible School at my grandparents church.  Jake invited a friend to come along and Jordan went to help out in the kitchen.  It was a nice 4th of July extended weekend!
