Wednesday - July 17th *** UPDATES ***
It was another great night of action on the Highland Lower Field.
Henderson started off the night doubling up West Side 20-10. In the 2nd
game, Newburgh stymied Highland with some nice defense 11-4. SS Fischer
had a very nice game flashing the glove. In the night cap, East Aces
jumped all over Boonville 9-0 and it looked as this might be a shortened
game. Somebody forgot to tell the kids from Warrick County that. There
was no quitting in them. They pulled off a remarkable come back scoring 3
runs in the bottom of the 6th and won 12 - 11 and also moved to 2 - 0
in pool play. Games will kick back in action tomorrow at 5:30.
Thursday - July 18th *** UPDATES ***
We may have had our best game of tournament tonight for the 7U
division. An extra inning barn burner. Golfmoor battled from behind the
entire game and played some great ball the last 3 innings. They scored 5
runs in the top of the 6th to take a 12-10 lead, but the Battle Stixx
didn't fold to that pressure by scoring 2 themselves to send it to extra
innings. Golfmoor failed to score and McCuthanville plated the winning
run in the bottom of the 7th to pull out a 13-12 win. Mitchell hit a
3-run creature in the 1st for McCuthanville. They wrapped up pool play
with a 3-0 record. In the 2nd game, Boonville also ended with a perfect
3-0 record in pool play beating Mt. Vernon 16-1. The nightcap had a
solid Henderson team scoring runs as they advanced to 2-0 in Pool Play
with a 19-4 victory over East Lighting.
