Ferry Ride to Ocracoke Island/ Black Beard - Outer Banks

Ocracoke Island was one of my favorite places we visited. It took us 45 mins by ferry to reach the island. While we were there, we visited Teach's Hole a museum for Black Beard the Pirate. The kids loved learning more about pirates. We also visited Ocracoke Lighthouse and hung out around the docks and looked at all the fishing boats and fishing gear. On the way back to the main land, a storm started brewing. I was so afraid we were going to get caught out in the middle of the ocean on the ferry. The storm didn't hit until we were close to Rodanthe, which was about 30 mins. from where we docked. It was a neat trip, the kids really enjoyed driving the car onto the ferry. We saw dolphins jump, birds soar and huge ships during our ferry ride!
